Lutheran Christians believe that God so loves the world God sent the Son, Jesus Christ, to live as one of us; that he was crucified, died, was raised from the dead, and lives in our midst through the power of the Holy Spirit. We believe we are saved purely by the grace of God and not by any effort on our part. Our good works are our response to this gift of God’s unconditional love. The
OUR HISTORY: Hope Lutheran Church is a member church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Two local churches, St. Timothy’s and Gloria Dei joined to form the community of Hope in 1993. Since that time, the people of Hope have been active in worship and in service to the community.
HOW WE LIVE OUT OUR FAITH: A longtime member of G.R.I.P, a local organization of faith communities working together to help the poor and homeless in our community, the people of Hope are committed to serve neighbors both nearby and far away. We also have a relationship with the SHARE Manna Food Pantry. We participate in the ELCA Good Gifts Program, including providing funds for breast cancer education and other resources in Chile, and making mosquito netting available for people in places where malaria is a terrible reality. Through Lutheran World Relief, Bread for the World, and other agencies, we support God’s call to care for one another. We also support the violence prevention work of Richmond Ceasefire-Lifelines to Healing and advocacy through CCISCO.
